This state-funded program helps students with disabilities access private therapy, tutoring, and educational supports — giving families more choice in how their children learn and grow.

What Is the ESA+ Scholarship in North Carolina?

The Education Student Accounts (ESA+) Program is managed by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA). It provides eligible K–12 students with disabilities access to scholarship funds that can be used for approved educational expenses — including private speech and feeding therapy services.

Depending on your child’s documented disability, families may receive between $9,000 and $17,000 per year to use for qualified educational expenses. These funds can be used to support a wide range of individualized learning options, including:

• Tuition and fees at approved private schools

• Speech therapy, occupational therapy, or other therapeutic services

• Tutoring and academic support

• Educational materials, curriculum, and technology for homeschool or private learning

• Transportation to approved providers
